PostHog's pricing page shows $0 seven times over
COMMUNITY PICK
Community verdict is still open. The first back decides the Community Pick.
One tap, no signup. Your back moves that company up the community board; more backers make it the Community Pick. The score doesn't change.
WHICH SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Both are defensible: it depends on which of these you actually care about.
Choose PostHog if…
Choose Amplitude if…
Worked out from prices read on each company's own site and what reviewers repeatedly say, both linked below. We don't pick a winner: the right answer depends on which of these you care about.
PostHog's pricing page runs a live calculator that prices out seven products at $0, then says plainly "the first 1M events are free." Amplitude's Plus tier just says "Starts at $0" and asks for a credit card to find out what happens next. That gap in nerve, not features, is most of the 13-point spread.
PostHog's pricing page has a working calculator showing Analytics, Session Replay, Error Tracking and four more products all at $0, with the actual free-tier limit (1M events) spelled out. Amplitude's Plus plan reads "Starts at $0," requires a credit card to proceed, and never states the per-event rate once you're past the 2M free events.
PostHog's about page names co-CEOs James Hawkins and Tim Glaser, states the YC W20 origin, and claims 500,000+ teams and an open-source codebase. Amplitude's homepage leans on a 76% resolution rate and 4,900+ customers with no names attached to the company itself, backing trust with logos like Coursera and RocketMoney instead of people.
PostHog · sitePostHog · siteAmplitude · siteAmplitude · site
PostHog's homepage walks through one concrete scenario: a required field losing customers at mobile checkout, found via replay and fixed with a pull request. Amplitude's homepage instead throws four AI metrics at you (41.7% user interaction, 1.34M weekly interactions) without tying any of them to a story a visitor can follow.

GOOD AT
Showing its pricing math in public and putting real names behind the trust claims, down to an open-source codebase and a public rickroll joke on the pricing FAQ.
COSTING THEM
Positioning still tops out at 20/25 because the site speaks almost entirely to product engineers, which caps how broad an audience it can win over.
GOOD AT
Enterprise-grade proof: Forrester Wave placement and named case studies from Coursera, RocketMoney and Snoonu with dollar figures attached.
COSTING THEM
The Plus plan's "Starts at $0" plus a credit-card requirement to see real costs, and a trust section built on aggregate percentages instead of a company anyone can picture.
THE OVERTAKE MOVE
Amplitude should replace "Starts at $0" on its pricing page with the actual per-event rate past the free tier, and add a real about-page story with founder names to match the concreteness PostHog leads with.
Fix it, then rescan in a week to see if the result flips.
Only PostHog's pricing has been checked so far; Amplitude's is next time it is analysed.
POSTHOG
Free plan, then charged per product usage (e.g., events, recordings, logs).
What makes the bill grow
AMPLITUDE
We haven't checked this company's pricing yet.
9 reviewers are positive about the pricing
Prices are read from each company's own pages and never estimated. When a business bills by usage or only by quote, there is no single price to compare, so we show the meter and what can make the bill grow instead.
PostHog scores 90/100 to Amplitude's 77/100 on PickDuel. PostHog's pricing page runs a live calculator that prices out seven products at $0, then says plainly "the first 1M events are free." Amplitude's Plus tier just says "Starts at $0" and asks for a credit card to find out what happens next. The score rates how clearly each public website explains the product, earns trust, shows pricing and asks for the next step. It is not a judgement of product quality.

PostHog: Pricing details generous monthly free tiers (e.g., first 1M analytics events free) followed by metered pay-as-you-go usage. Amplitude: Clear freemium model with 2M events free per month, but Plus shows 'Starts at $0' with usage-based scaling whose exact per-event rates are not printed.
Nobody has backed either side yet. Anyone can back one side, once, with no signup. Backing never changes the PickDuel score.
PickDuel reads up to three public pages per website and runs one web search. A language model rates 11 specific signals from 0 to 5, and fixed code turns them into a 0-100 score: positioning 25, product clarity 20, trust 20, conversion 20, pricing clarity 15.
PickDuel scores public website communication, not product quality. Backers never change the score. How scoring works
Almost nobody decides between two. These are the businesses the public puts next to PostHog, with the reason each one comes up — checked against their own sites and their public reviews, not our opinion.
Digital analytics platform combining product analytics, session replay, AI agents, and experimentation.
Session replay and behavioral UX intelligence platform that prioritizes conversion fixes using AI.
Free plan, then $49 per Sessions/mo.
The same rules run in both directions: PostHog is on these businesses' shortlists for the same reasons. Nothing here rates anyone's product, and no business can pay to be added or removed. Something wrong? Tell us
